The Web Design assignment was extremely beneficial and educational. I learned how to use a new platform, how to link pages to each other, how to embed links, and I got practice using design principles like contrast and repetition. Contrast was important for the website design as a whole as I included creative slide backgrounds and wanted to make sure my text was still visible while repetition was useful in creating a list of class policies. Website design skills may be useful in my future career if I were to create a website page for a series I have written (something like Pottermore for Harry Potter).      QR codes could be very useful in a classroom! They could be used to share websites and materials, to take attendance, for feedback and surveys, or for interactive games. It's the perfect way to quickly spread online material without having everybody type in a link or search for a specific page. Especially since phones are so popular now, QR codes c...
Blog Post #4     I have quite enjoyed blogging for this class. It's nice to see everything laid out together and looking visually appealing. It's also refreshing to use a new technological medium for assignments besides the usual Word or Google Docs. I feel much more comfortable now using these new tools than I did at the beginning of the semester and I expect that by the end of it I will be relatively confident in the different tool and design options.      I've searched for a lot of different Web 2.0 tools that would be beneficial in a classroom environment and one of my favorites is Fanschool. Fanschool (which used to be called Kidblog) is essentially a blogging platform focused around schooling and educational subjects. You can monitor student work, connect with other classes, and use it as a digital portfolio for all of your assignments and work.  https://go.fan.school/kidblog     I do not usually like using Generative AI. I find that s...

Standard 2 SC.3.TI.2: Recognize the Consequences of the misuse of information (A subsection of Standard SC.3.TI: Technological impact) involves ensuring students demonstrate an understanding of copyright laws, identifying various digital artifacts, citing evidence using direct and indirect citations, and identifying digital resource information. This is incredibly important for students to have an understanding of because it encompasses all of the building blocks students will need for the rest of their lives in terms of conducting and reporting on research. If students are able to understand the resources they have available and how to interact with them they will be set for future success. As this standard involves a relatively basic understanding of each subject I do feel prepared to implement this standard. It would be easy to show examples of information and demonstrate correct citation use.      Standard ELA.K12.EE.1.1 (Cite evidence to explain ...

I have used Microsoft Word for assignments and essays for many years. In the schools I attended this was the expected writing software to use. However, I prefer using Google Docs now. I find Google Docs to be helpful because you can add others to a document and all work together and easily leave comments and notes on writing. Now, I am more comfortable using Google Docs than Word just because I have used it so much in the last two or three years.      The ISTE Standard of Education that is most important to me is to be a collaborator. I strongly believe that working with others, especially when you have to apply to many different learning styles, is very important. Collaborating also allows you to receive quick feedback, learn from the habits of others, and overall communicate information which can be widely understood. Having a well rounded understanding of any topic makes it easier to teach it and collaboration is the key to success.    ...

In this course I hope to learn about styles of education, how to use educational tools, and the effectiveness of each one. Knowing how to educate others is an important tool for life and can be helpful in a variety of environments which is why I value this course. I hope to gain some experience with the tools we use so that I may use them in the future, even if I do not end up using them to educate. As an English major a large part of any career I choose to pursue will be educating others whether it be in a teaching format or simply as communcation.      Before this course my experience with educative technology was limited. I have, of course, used presentation tools in classes for projects and assignments which I have found helpful. I have experience with powerpoint and google slides especially. I have, however, never used a blog before, so I am glad to gain this experience as well.      I love to write and to read. This means that I h...
